when to make a proper buy and sell in stock?

hi i want to know what should i be lookin for in a share that i own .like when should i be selling it or when should i buy a stock.what should i be looking in order to make a successful transaction.i am completely new to stock and planning to invest in stocks..but currently i am doing my research .

It depends on your time frame and what you really want to do.

If you are investing for the long term it is a good idea to look at the companies Financial Ratios such as the PE ratio, Quick Ratio, and the Debt to capital Ratio and compare those to other companies to help you get an idea of how strong the company actually is.

You could also look at things such as analysis ratings and the MSN Stock Scouter to see whether other people think the stock is fundamentally strong or not.

If you are investing for the short term it is all about technical analysis, which looks at the actual stock chart and looks at things such as, chart patterns, and Oscillators. This page on how to read stock charts goes through some of the basic principles of using technical analysis.

Whatever you do stick with it, Don’t buy a stock for one reason and sell it for a completely different reason. Creating a “game plan” and sticking with it can really work out well in the long run.
