When a stock can?t seem to break above a certain level, that level is called the Resistance level. If the stock gets to this level and falls back down it is called ?bouncing off of resistance?.

If it does manage to break through this level it is called ?breaking through resistance? or simply a ?breakout? and indicates that the stock is likely to go higher.

On the other hand if a stock can?t seem to break below a certain level this is called Support.

So, stocks bounce up off of support and down off of resistance.
