the great depression

Question: What was the economy like during the great depression?

Answer: The Great Depression was a time of total economic meltdown. The stock market fell 89%, unemployment was at 24.9%, nearly 3 times the unemployment rate in the US during the height of the financial crisis.

To add to it because of the The McFadden Act of 1927 which limited how big a bank can grow the majority of banks were unable to sustain themselves and 9,000 went out of business.

It was not until World War 2 when the US started to employ more jobs for war time operations did we actually recover.
