How to Invest in the Stocks Market

Want to know how to invest in stocks? Perhaps you have heard about just how powerful investing can be and want to get into it yourself. It can bring in extra income for you as well as help you to grow your long term wealth.

There are three steps to investing into stocks.

1. Find a Broker
2. Do Your Research
3. Invest Wisely

How to invest : Stock Market : Find a broker

There are a lot of brokers out there, Fidelity, Scottrade, TDAmeritrade, Thinkorswim, Zecco, Optionsxpress, Tradeking, etc. Your first job as an investor is to find one that fits you and your needs.

Each broker will charge you a commission every time you buy a stock, so of course looking for the cheapest broker should be one of your biggest concerns.

Also look at what each broker does that sets them apart. Do they give you research tools? Do they let you trade stock options? (Do you want to trade options?) and What is the minimum to open up an account?

Once you have a brokerage account you can easily buy any stock by typing in the ticker symbol and clicking buy. Your broker will automatically match you with someone else who placed the opposite trade. It all takes seconds.

There are ways to buy stocks without a broker, but they can really limit your options and in some cases saving that $5 commission might end up costing you thousands in potential profit. “Don’t step over dollars to get to pennies”

How to invest : Stock Market : Do Your Research

Researching the company is always good, but do some research on how the stock market works in general and what strategies are out there to help you predict what will happen. Knowledge is power.

Once you have a good understanding on how the market works, try to apply some of its principals. Create a strategy and get into stocks that fit that strategy. This will save you from hopping around from stock to stock because you are either scared you made a bad decision or don’t want to miss out on the latest “hot stock” your friends are talking about.

Having a strategy sets the professional traders and investors apart from the rest of the crowd. Here are some interesting pages to go through.

How to invest : Stock Market : Invest Wisely

Know that you know how to invest in stocks make sure that you invest wisely. Don’t put all your money into one stock and hope for the best. It may sound silly, but I know people who have done that, it seems to be pretty common for some reason.

Investing smart also means learning from your past mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes, but only the ones who are willing to look at their mistakes and determine what they did wrong will ever use them grow and prosper.

If You Can’t Beat Them Join Them

You know how to invest in stocks and you will quickly find out that the things everyone is trying to beat are the big market averages. If you can double their return year after year you would be in the top group of traders.

If you can’t beat them however, you can always join them. The major stock market indexes such as the Dow Jones and the S&P all have their own ETFs which are tradable. And by buying one of these ETFs you can do better than most mutual funds, and with a lot less fees.
