The first thing you have to do is find a broker, here is a list of cheap brokers.

As far as trading you should find a style that works best for you. But I like chart patterns, you might want to start by learning the different chart patterns and what each pattern indicates, then go out and find stocks making those patterns and papertrade them so you can get your feet wet a little bit and jump in with real money once you start making money on paper.
