A short Warren Buffett biography
Here is a short Warren Buffett biography about his life and experience in the stock market. Buffett was born on August 30 1930 as the only boy of 3 children. His father Howard was a stock broker and later a congressman. Buffett learned to love business and money and started working for it at a young age. At age 11 he bought 3 shares of his first stock Cities Service Preferred at $38. The stock went from $38 to $27 and back up to $40 where buffet sold for a quick profit, a decision he would later regret as the stock went all the way up to $200. When he graduated high school he had already collected $5,000 (over $41,600 today) and had no urge to go to college, but his father urged him to go to Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania, he would later transfer to the university of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduate after just 3 years. The most influential thing that ever happened to him was meeting Ben Graham who had developed a new idea about investing. Graham believed you could find the true value of a company by analyzing its balance sheets and would make money by buying at a lower price then what it was worth. Buffett would follow the advice of value investing for the rest of his life. After graduating Buffett married Susan Thomas in 1952 and took a job at Benjamin Graham’s Partnership in 1954. |
