How to Sell Stock

Where to Sell Stock Certificate

If you are trying to find out how to sell stock or where to sell stock certificate then this article will be your guide to selling common stock on the open market. The first thing you need to do is find someone who is authorized to sell stock.

One way to do this, if you do not want to buy and sell stocks regularly, is to go to your bank. There should be someone there who is authorized to sell stock in the open market that can help you out.

If you want to buy and sell stocks regularly an easier way of selling common stock is to open up a brokerage account. An online brokerage account is an account that will allow you to buy and sell stocks online.

There are two different kinds of brokers that you can use, full service brokers and low commission brokers. Unless you are really scared about selling stocks online I would not open up an account with a full service broker because they can be very expensive.

Instead use one of these low commission stock brokers to create your account. Once you have opened up an account with a broker you can then simply mail your certificate to them.

Once it is received and verified your stock will be transferred into your account where you can sell it with just a click of the mouse online. If you sell it while the market is not open it will not be sold until the market opens.

If you sell it while the market is already open your stock will be sold and money will be deposited into your account within seconds. If you place a limit order (an order telling your broker the minimum you want to sell it for) then it might take longer depending on the price you want to sell it at and if they can find a buyer for that price.

Once the money is deposited into your account you can then withdraw it, transfer it to a bank, or invest it into another stock or security.
