The Fiscal Year (FY) or Financial Year is a term that represents a company’s budget for the entire year. It is where the majority of fundamental indiicators used to evaluate a company’s streangth comes from.

The Fiscal year is caluclated as a 12 month period. At the end of these 12 months a company is responsible for producing and realeasing the financial statements. From these statements we are able to get the majority of the ratios and Financial calculations.

It is important to know that this year does not nescesarly have to run between January to December. The 12 month period varies between country to country and also between bussinesses.

The United Kindom will also refer to this period as the Tax year because it is the year that is used to calculated taxes.
