What is Cross Section Analysis?

Cross section analysis is used to find the leadership stock in a given industry group by comparing a company with others in the same industry. This can be done by looking at company financial ratios, future growth expectations, and how well the stock has performed in the past.

What Do You Look At?

The first thing you will want to look at, especially if you plan to hold the stock for a long period of time is how fundamentally strong is the underlying company?

Finding a company with the lowest price to earnings ratio and debt to capital ratio is only one part in the equation.Figuring out which company is going to continue to exist and grow in the future is just as important.

Don’t Buck The Trend

Companies with great fundamentals do not always end up giving you great returns. A strong investment is a stock that has both great fundamentals and a great history of trending up.

By combining fundamentals and trend you are likely to find stocks that will fare well in the future and hopefully do better than their peers.
